Shinwook Kim (Korean, b.1982) is an artist whose work explores the intricate relationship between memory, place, and the human condition. Through photography, installation, and archival practices, Kim engages with invisible narratives embedded in sites marked by displacement, migration, and historical rupture. His recent research focuses on the absence of 'placeness' in spaces severed from their pasts, questioning identity and boundaries in contemporary society. Kim holds a Ph.D. in Fine Art from the University of East London, an MA in Fine Art Photography from the Royal College of Art, and a BA from Goldsmiths, University of London. He has exhibited internationally and his works are part of notable collections, including the MMCA Government Art Bank, Kiyosato Photo Art Museum, and University of Oxford. He is the recipient of the British Council's UK Alumni Award for Culture and Creativity.
